If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the lookout for new ways to get your work out there, reach more readers, and share your writing journey. We all know about the usual suspects—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter—but have you tapped into the power of Pinterest? Yes, you read that right! Pinterest, the platform known for recipes, DIY home decor, Halloween costumes, and the like, is actually an incredibly powerful platform for authors. So, how can you tap into the power of Pinterest as an author?

I’m so glad you asked! My goal here is to help you harness the magic of this vibrant visual platform and turn it into a book marketing machine.

My Pinterest Story: Why I Love It for Authors

http://writersparkbookcovers.comI’ll admit it—when I first thought about using Pinterest to help get my books (and WriterSpark resources & book covers), I was skeptical. I couldn’t quite figure out how a platform for pinning pretty pictures could help me as a writer and entrepreneur. But after diving in and experimenting, I realized something incredible. Pinterest isn’t a social media platform; it’s a search engine.

Unlike Instagram or TikTok, Facebook or Twitter, platforms where your posts disappear into the void after a day or two, your Pins on Pinterest—live on and on. They have a lifespan of months, even years. Many Pins are evergreen, performing year after year. That is no-brainer marketing! Once I figured this out, everything changed. Pins I made months and even a year ago are still bringing new readers to my blog and book pages today! Through my Pins, I’m gaining brand awareness, curious readers, and new fans.

I want to share everything I’ve learned with you. That’s what the Pinterest Power for Authors course is all about. I want to break it down for you so you can see just how much Pinterest can boost your writing career.

What You’ll Learn in “Pinterest Power for Authors”

This course is designed specifically for authors. The goal is to take the mystery out of Pinterest and show you exactly how to use it to market your books and connect with readers. Here’s what you’ll walk away with:

1. Building Your Author Brand on Pinterest

When I first started, I didn’t realize how important it was to have a cohesive look on Pinterest. I was just throwing up random Pins. But over time, I learned how powerful branding is. You’ll learn how to set up a profile that not only looks professional but also represents you as an author. We’ll go over how to create beautiful, cohesive Pins and boards that fit your brand, whether you’re writing romance, thrillers, or fantasy.

2. Creating Click-Worthy Pins

When I figured out how to design click-worthy Pins, it was like a lightbulb went off. You want people to see your Pins and think, “Yes! I need to click on that!” In this course, I’ll show you how to create eye-catching Pins that will make people want to visit your website or check out your latest book. I’ll also teach you how to use compelling headlines and calls-to-action so your Pins don’t just look good—they get results.

3. Mastering Pinterest SEO

Here’s something that totally changed my Pinterest game—Pinterest is a search engine! And like any search engine, SEO (search engine optimization) is key. I’ll teach you how to find the right keywords, write descriptions that get noticed, and organize your boards so people can find your Pins when they’re searching for things like “book recommendations” or “writing tips.”

I get traffic to my site from Pins I made over a year ago, all thanks to good SEO (and seasonal topics). Think about that, and imagine what that could do for your author platform.

4. Promoting Your Books

Pinterest has been a game-changer for my book marketing. I’ve used it to share book releases and giveaways, announce upcoming projects, and connect with readers. I’ll show you how to create Pins specifically designed to promote your books and keep your content in front of potential readers for months. We’ll also cover how to use Pinterest to build excitement before a launch and keep promoting after your book hits the shelves.

5. Creating Consistent Content

I’m going to be honest here—consistency is hard. H.A.R.D. But it’s so important on Pinterest. In this course, you’ll learn how to create a content calendar that makes posting regularly much easier. Plus, I’ll show you how to repurpose content you’ve already created—like blog posts, interviews, or book reviews—into fresh Pins. That’s one of my favorite things about Pinterest: one piece of content can have multiple lives. A cat has nine; your Pinterest Pins can have ten or more!

How Authors Can Take Advantage of Pinterest

The best part about Pinterest? I’m so glad you asked!

The answer is: It works for you long-term. Unlike Instagram posts or Tweets that disappear after a day, your Pins continue to show up in searches, which means they will keep driving traffic to your site long after your initial publication of a Pin. Your book pages and your blog will continue to see traffic. It’s like planting seeds that keep growing.

Here’s how I take advantage of Pinterest as an author:

  • Driving Traffic to My Website: Every Pin is a gateway to my website, whether it’s a blog post, a book page, or a signup for my newsletter.
  • Building My Email List: Pinterest is a great way to offer readers a free resource—like a writing prompt guide or book excerpt—in exchange for their email. This has been one of the most effective ways to grow my list.
  • Sharing My Writing Knowledge: Whether it’s writing tips or insights into my process, Pinterest allows me to share content that positions me as an expert. This, in turn, helps grow my reader base.

Why the Pinterest Power for Authors Course is Different
